I grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where my parents and brother still live. I love to visit Virginia, but I also love living in Austin.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia. I moved to Austin to
attend graduate school at the University of Texas, where I earned a Master of Science degree in Biomedical
Engineering.
After graduate school, I worked for five years as an engineer for National Instruments in Austin, TX. I designed many cool
measurement projects, my favorite being the NI ELVIS.
I loved working as an engineer, but I had a strong desire to work with young adults and give back to the community. I decided to become a teacher in 2004, and I love every minute of
it.
I started my teaching career at Del Valle High School in Del Valle, TX, which is just east of the Austin airport. I taught physics and engineering there for eight years before moving to
Vandegrift High School in 2012. I taught physics and engineering at Vandegrift High School for eight years, then moved to Anderson High School.
Some of my favorite activities (other than teaching) are running on the Town Lake trail, swimming with the Longhorn Aquatics masters team, remodeling my house with my husband,
playing outside with my daughter and son, and eating Tex-Mex at Chuy's.
